Services

Many countries provide free primary education and some even provide free secondary education also. The problem in poor communities is that the quality of “free” education facilitates a poor foundation for the pupils and this leads to high drop-out rates, very low college admission rates and very low employment rates.

We cannot build schools to replace the “free” ones but we can, through after school programs, provide remediation for Math, English and written/grammatical Spanish. We will also try to provide Vocational Training, where possible, to improve employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.

In May 2018, after a February trip to Peru, we started working with Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Carmen (Our Lady of Carmen Parish) and Centro Cultural AfroPeruano in El carmen, Chincha district south of Lima, Peru to provide after school math classes for fifty secondary school students from Guayabo and El Carmen communities.

We have found (from years of experience in mission trips) that top among adult needs in poor communities are general Health and Sanitation Education, Reading Glasses, and Diabetes Monitoring. We will embark on Medical Missions and, where possible, partner with local clinics in providing supplies, medicines and equipment that must be provided FREE to the people to meet these needs.
